Opposition On Jack Dorsey Interview: The claims made by former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter Jack Dorsey regarding the farmers’ protest have increased the political stir in the country. Dorsey has accused the government of pressure. 1. Dorsey claimed in an interview to the YouTube channel Breaking Points that “the Government of India has punished the company for not accepting requests to remove accounts and posts critical of the government on farmers’ demonstrations against the Centre’s new agricultural laws in 2020 and 2021.” Pressured with threats to stop functioning and raid its employees. Dorsey resigned in 2021 from the post of CEO of Twitter.
2. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the political progeny of BJP-RSS who stood against the Indians in the freedom movement and fought on the side of the British should not pretend to be nationalism on the statement of former CEO of Twitter. Mallikarjun Kharge said, “BJP is on top in embarrassing the country. From the slavery of the British, BJP has only adopted the toolkit of dictatorship. Kharge also tweeted some points on Tuesday (June 13). He said, “What did the Modi government do to crush the farmer’s movement.” Prime Minister Modi himself called the Annadata farmers as agitators.
3. The Congress President said, “The Chief Minister of UP accused the farmers of taking foreign funding. BJP ministers and leaders called farmers Naxalites, terrorists and traitors. Tried to block their way by laying barbed wire, cement walls, nails on the road. Tortured them with sticks. 750 farmers lost their lives. Far from paying tribute and compensation to them, there was not even a minute’s silence in the Parliament for those martyrs. Even today 1.48 lakh farmers are forced to fight the cases registered during the farmer’s movement. He said that we will continue to foil the BJP’s conspiracy to end democracy in the country.
4. At the same time, Dorsey’s statements have been dismissed by the government as false. Information Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said in his tweet, “India is the largest and most transparent democracy in the world. Whenever elections are near in India, some foreign forces and their agents here are active in a planned way to destabilize and defame the country. He claimed that Jack Dorsey is telling white lies.

Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Chandrashekhar tweeted dismissing Dorsey’s claims, “Dorsey’s time Twitter administration had a hard time accepting the sovereignty of Indian law.” Nor was Twitter closed.” Chandrasekhar tweeted, “Twitter was continuously and repeatedly violating Indian law during Dorsey and his team. They repeatedly flouted the laws from 2020 to 2022 and only in June 2022 did they finally start compliance.” He said “India being a sovereign nation has the right to ensure that its laws are followed in India. 6. Chandrasekhar said that during the demonstrations in January 2021, there was a lot of propaganda and even news of massacre, which were definitely fake. He said that the government was bound to remove misinformation from this platform as there was a possibility of worsening the situation based on fake news. “The level of partisanship on Twitter during Jack’s time was such that he had trouble removing misinformation from the platform in India, while in the US he did so himself in a number of incidents,” he said. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, “When the BJP government can put pressure on Twitter, the platform of free expression at the global level, then what to say about the country’s media.” The BJP government should apologize to ‘Bharat Desh’ for tarnishing the country’s image worldwide.
8. Chief Minister of Delhi and National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal has also reacted to the statement of former CEO of Twitter. He said, “If an attempt is made to stop the farmer’s movement within the country, then it is a wrong thing.”
9. The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) tweeted on the matter, saying, “Request or hidden threat in this matter! In a recent interview, Jack Dorsey told how a request was made by the BJP government to block the accounts of those protesting farmers and criticizing the government. compliance? How about if we shut down your platform, raid your employees’ homes and shut down your offices.”
10. TMC further said, “Idi Amin had once said – Freedom of speech is there but I cannot guarantee freedom after giving speech. PM Narendra Modi has made it one of its guiding principles.
