Election Commission prepares delimitation proposal for Assam, know how many seats are reserved for SC-ST


Election Commission On Assam Delimitation: The Election Commission (ECI) has published the draft delimitation proposal for Assam on Tuesday (June 20). In which suggestions and objections have been sought till July 11. The Election Commission said that the number of assembly seats in Assam has been retained at 126, the number of Lok Sabha seats at 14.

In the Election Commission’s proposal, 19 assembly and 2 Lok Sabha seats have been reserved for STs in Assam, while nine assembly and one parliamentary seats have been reserved for SCs. The Election Commission said that there is a proposal to increase the assembly seats reserved for SCs in Assam from 8 to 9. While there is a proposal to increase the seats of ST from 16 to 19.

Proposal for a parliamentary seat named Kaziranga

The Election Commission’s draft on Assam delimitation proposes a parliamentary seat named Kaziranga. Along with this, there is a proposal to increase the number of assembly seats in West Karbi Anglong district by one and 3 assembly seats in Bodoland districts. The Election Commission will again visit Assam in July 2023 for a public hearing on the draft proposal.
