India’s Tour West Indies 2023: The Indian team has to play its first Test series on the West Indies tour in the new edition of the World Test Championship (WTC). For this Test series, there were reports that captain Rohit Sharma could be rested, but the BCCI official has put an end to all these discussions with his statement.
KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer will not be available for team selection for the Windies tour. These three players have not been fully fit till now. At the same time, Cheteshwar Pujara can be successful in saving his place in the Test team. Pujara has been facing constant criticism since the defeat in the WTC final match.
A BCCI official said in his statement to Inside Sports that Rohit is fully fit and also available for selection. He has got a great break. For this reason, there is no concern about workload management. He is all set to lead the team on the West Indies tour.
Rohit Sharma is also facing criticism regarding his current form. Regarding this, the official said in his statement that he could score more runs in IPL and WTC finals. But he has done much better with the bat in the last few months. Rohit scored a century against Australia at Nagpur ground. He is also taking care of his fitness. It will not be right to criticize him on his form.
Hardik can handle captaincy in T20 series, Gill can get rest
All-rounder Hardik Pandya can once again take over as the captain of the team for the 5-match T20 series against the West Indies. And keeping in mind the ODI World Cup, Shubman Gill can be rested from the T20 series after the Test and ODI series. So that their workload can be managed. Apart from this, Sarfaraz Khan and Mukesh Kumar can also get a place in the Test team.
