Stock Market Closing On 23 June 2023: In the second consecutive and last trading session of the week, the Indian stock market closed with a decline under the pressure of profit booking. The market declined due to a turn down in mid cap IT stocks including consumer durables and IT stocks. The Sensex has again slipped below the figure of 63,000. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed down by 257 points at 62,982 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed down by 102 points at 18,668 points.
In today’s business, stocks of consumer durables, IT, banking energy, auto, metals, FMCG, infra, media and real estate also closed down. Oil and gas sector stocks also closed down. Only pharma stocks have seen a boom. There has been a big decline in mid cap stocks for the second consecutive day. Nifty’s Mid Cap Index closed at 34,800 with a fall of 435 points. The Small Cap Index also closed down by 126 points or 1.17 per cent. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 7 closed with gains and 23 closed down. Whereas, out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 10 stocks closed with a boom and 40 with a decline.

3 lakh crore loss to investors
Due to the big fall in the stock market for the second consecutive day, investors have suffered huge losses. In today’s trade, the market cap of BSE came down to Rs 289.45 lakh crore at the close of the market, which was Rs 292.30 lakh crore on Thursday. In today’s trading session, there has been a loss of Rs 2.85 lakh crore in the wealth of investors and if we look at the data of the last two days, investors have lost Rs 5 lakh crore in two days.
