Assam Police Inspector Case: Biman Roy, an Inspector (UB) of the Assam Police has been dismissed for misbehaving with a girl in the police station and taking objectionable pictures of her. Efforts are being made to nab the accused inspector. State Director General of Police GP Singh has also announced a reward on the head of the accused. In a tweet, he told that the accused is absconding and a suitable reward will be given to anyone who gives information about his whereabouts to the Superintendent of Police, Nalbari.
The incident is of Ghograpar police station in Nalbari district. On June 21, a minor girl and her boyfriend were taken into custody in a child marriage case. The girl had allegedly eloped with her boyfriend but the police caught them and took them to Ghoghrapar police station.
This thing was said in the FIR against the accused Inspector
According to news agency PTI, the FIR lodged by the 17-year-old girl against the SHO of Ghograpar police station on Monday (June 26) states that she was molested at the police station and her objectionable photographs were taken.
A case has been registered against the accused inspector at Nalbari police station under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The accused inspector was first suspended, then dismissed.

In a tweet on Thursday (June 29) night, Assam Director General of Police GP Singh said, “When we entered the police service at SVP Police Academy Hyderabad, it was always taught that the police station is a temple for all policemen. And is the safest haven for the citizens. Today I am extremely disappointed and distressed by this development. An inspector has let us all down, the entire police family is distraught.

The Director General of Police of Assam further wrote this
The DGP wrote, “I assure the people of Assam that the powers conferred on me as Director General of Police will be used to the maximum to ensure that the pride of the Assam Police remains intact.”
He wrote, “Considering the instant case as the rarest of rare, as the Director General of Assam Police and the head of the police force and as per extant law and rules, I have decided to dismiss Inspector (UB) Biman Roy.” ‘
He said in the tweet that this decision will send a strong message to all serving police personnel about abiding by the law of the country and the thought process of the Chief Minister of Assam. Along with this, he said that it can also be taken as a warning and advice that the police station should remain the safest place, especially for children and women.
