West Bengal Panchayat Elections Violence 2023: Three discarded ballot boxes were found in a drain in Murshidabad district on Sunday (July 9) amidst the ongoing turmoil over the West Bengal Panchayat elections. Due to this, the apprehensions of violence in the elections have increased further.

Rural elections in Bengal saw widespread violence. The violence claimed the lives of 15 people, with ballot boxes being vandalized on a large scale and opponents being targeted with bomb attacks in several villages. After this violence, now political rhetoric is also at its peak.

People of Bengal in panic

After the recovery of ballot boxes, one of the local people told news agency ANI that “The situation is not good after the elections, even the general public is not coming out due to fear. The general public is in panic. If anyone comes out So the Trinamool Congress (TMC) threatens.”

Political parties accusing each other

Violence was also seen in the elections. After the violence, a fierce verbal war has also started between the political parties. All political parties are accusing each other of violence. The opposition party BJP has also demanded imposition of President’s rule in the state. At the same time, the ruling TMC has blamed the opposition for inciting violence during the panchayat elections in West Bengal.

Let us inform that, on Saturday (July 8) voters in Bengal exercised their franchise to elect representatives for about 928 seats in 22 Zilla Parishads, 9,730 Panchayat Samitis and 63,229 Gram Panchayats.
