Delhi Flood Update: Light to moderate rain is expected in Delhi on Friday (July 14) while a ‘yellow’ alert has been issued for July 15. The Meteorological Department gave this information on Thursday. Light rain occurred in some areas of Delhi on Thursday. Light rain occurred in parts of central and south Delhi including areas like Lajpat Nagar, Saket, Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas and Jangpura. The minimum temperature in Delhi was 26.2 degree Celsius, which is one degree less than the average temperature of this season. The maximum temperature was also recorded at 34.2 degree Celsius, one degree below normal.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board data, the 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) on Thursday remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category with 77. AQI between 0 and 50 is “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “poor”. Between 401 and 500 is considered “severe” and between 401 and 500 is considered “severe”. According to the India Meteorological Department, the relative humidity was recorded at 74 percent at 5.30 pm.
The water level of Yamuna river is increasing continuously.
Meanwhile, the water level of the Yamuna river is continuously increasing in Delhi for the last four days. A senior official of the Central Water Commission (CWC) said on Thursday (July 13) that the water level of Yamuna river in Delhi has stabilized and it will start receding from tonight. According to the flood monitoring portal of the CWC, the water level at the old railway bridge rose to 208.62 meters at 1 pm, which remained stable till 4 pm.
It will start decreasing in the next four hours
Commission director Sharad Chandra told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, ‘The water level of Yamuna has stabilized and it will start decreasing in the next four hours. It is expected to come down to 208.45 meters by 3 am on Friday. After the Yamuna river came in spate in Delhi, many areas got submerged. Due to rise in water level in Yamuna, public and private infrastructure including road and rail traffic has been affected and people living near the river have faced immense difficulties.
