Jammu and Kashmir News: National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah said on Saturday that local leaders have become accustomed to the restrictions imposed by the administration on the party’s movements since August 2019, but these measures cannot weaken their relationship with the people.

By abolishing Article 370 from the then state of Jammu and Kashmir, in the year 2019 it was divided into two Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. Article 370 provided special administrative powers to the state.

‘Where it ended, militancy is happening again’
The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister expressed concern over terrorist activities in the region and said that terrorism is raising its head again in areas which were declared terror-free sometime back. Omar was addressing reporters on the sidelines of a party conference of office bearers of Chenab Valley region at Batote in Ramban district.

‘We have learned to avoid them’
He said, “This is not a new thing (banning the movement of National Conference and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti). After August 5, 2019, it has become a daily thing for us and we are used to it, but we have also We’ve learned how to survive and fight back, and we’ll continue to do so.”

‘If the situation is good, then why no elections’
On the recent terror attack on migrant laborers in South Kashmir’s Shopian district despite the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) claim that the situation in the Valley is better, Omar said, “We have been saying this again and again that if they ( BJP) has claimed that the situation is better, then why not hold elections.

He said that the terror attacks in Shopian, Rajouri and Poonch have exposed the tall claims of improvement in the security of the Centre. He said that either the claim is false or we are not able to see the real situation.
