Shopian Bihar Labor Attack Case: Five days after three Bihari migrant workers were injured in a terrorist attack in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, the Jammu and Kashmir Police deployed the Shopian Station House Officer (SHO) and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
According to an order issued on Monday by Raees Mohammad Bhat, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), South Kashmir Range, Shopian SHO Ghulam Jilani Bhat has been attached to Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) Anantnag pending inquiry.

The order states that in view of the incident that took place at Gagarin Shopian on 13-7-2023 at about 2030 hrs, Inspector GH Jilani Bhat (AWP) (SHO P/S Shopian) PID No. ARP-109258 is attached to RPHQ Anantnag pending investigation. Has gone. This order will come into force with immediate effect.
Three migrant laborers were shot dead
On the evening of 13 July, three migrant laborers Anmol Kumar, Pintu Kumar Thakur and Hiralal Yadav, all residents of Bihar’s Supaul, were shot and injured in a terrorist attack in Shopian district. This was the third attack on non-locals and minorities in Kashmir this year.
On 26 February, a Kashmiri Pandit working as a security guard at a bank was shot dead by terrorists at Achen in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Three months later on 29 May, Deepu, a resident of Udhampur, who was working at a private circus fair at an amusement park, was shot dead near Zeeland Mandi in Anantnag town. Since the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, there have been a series of attacks on minority community members and non-locals in the valley.
