BMC tightens gear to deal with water logging, 5-5 teams of NDRF and Navy deployed in Mumbai


Mumbai Flood Preparation: It has been raining intermittently in Maharashtra for the past several days. It is feared that due to the rains, there may not be any kind of water logging in the city. To deal with this problem in the city, BMC has geared up and is making full preparations to ensure that there is no water-logging in the financial capital of the country.

BMC Disaster Management Control Room has formed a team to deal with any emergency due to rain, and they have deployed 5-5 teams of NDRF and Navy in the city. The city is being monitored 24 hours from the control room. In BMC, a team of 15 people is stationed in the control room of BMC headquarters for 24 hours and the anti-flooding staff has also been kept on air ready.

Meteorological Department issued alert for Mumbai
According to the Meteorological Department, bad weather conditions will continue in Mumbai and surrounding areas for the next few days. To deal with this situation, orange alert has been issued in ten districts of the state. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Satara, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Gondia for July 20. While other districts including Mumbai have issued a ‘yellow’ alert for Thursday.

Local train services were disrupted on some routes in Mumbai and its neighboring areas on Wednesday due to heavy rains the previous day and over 100 suburban trains were canceled during the day. Delay of express trains was announced on both Central and Western line and some long distance trains were also diverted.

Due to heavy rains, children have been given leave in schools today in Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Mumbai. At present, Mumbai’s train services are running normally. It is raining lightly in Mumbai since morning.
