Droupadi Murmu on CJI DY Chandrachud: President Draupadi Murmu inaugurated the new building of Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday (May 24). Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present in this program. During this an interesting conversation was witnessed between the President and the CJI.
Actually, it so happened that while addressing the program, CJI DY Chandrachud (CJI DY Chandrachud) gave a speech in Hindi. He said, “I hope you will give me an opportunity to return to Ranchi. Namaste Johar.” On this, President Draupadi Murmu said that language is another aspect of access to justice. He praised CJI Chandrachud for speaking in Hindi. The President said that he believes that seeing him, other judges will also follow this example.

Praising the CJI, President Murmu said, “I speak language, but I am speaking in English. I want to thank the CJI because he gave a speech in Hindi today.” Along with this, the CJI spoke on all such issues which are needed by the judicial system. He said, “Hearing should be held on time, judgment should be delivered immediately. Courts should have facilities for cleanliness and hygiene. How many courts are there today, where there is no toilet for women.”
‘It is necessary to translate the decisions in Hindi’
The CJI said, “The Supreme Court and the High Court do their work in English. We can reach people living in 6.4 lakh villages. If we translate our English judgments into their official languages. Supreme Court of India has started this exercise of translation of judgments with the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence). Today, we have translated more than 6,000 judgments into Hindi.”
