Karnataka Government Employees: The Karnataka government on Tuesday (May 30) increased the rates of dearness allowance for government employees and pensioners to 35 percent from the existing 31 percent. This decision will be considered effective from January 1, 2023. Basic pension or family pension has also been increased.
This will also apply to those pensioners in aided educational institutions, ‘whose pension/family pension is given from the Consolidated Fund of the State’. A government order said, ‘The government is pleased to inform that the rates of dearness allowance payable to state government employees as per the revised pay scales of 2018 have been increased from 31 per cent to 35 per cent with effect from January 1, 2023. The government said that this order will apply to full-time government employees, employees of district panchayats, in-charge employees working on fixed salaries, full-time employees of aided educational institutions and universities.
Meeting to implement ‘5 guarantees’
Earlier, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had held a high-level meeting with officials regarding the implementation of ‘5 Guarantees’ on Monday. Senior officials of Finance, Transport, Food and Civil Supplies, Energy and other departments were present in the meeting, with whom discussions were held. The officials were asked to prepare a report to implement the five guarantees.

The Karnataka cabinet meeting is going to be held on Thursday (June 1) to implement the Congress’s promises.
