Sweden: Sweden is one of the countries with the lowest smoking rate. This was also confirmed by the World Health Organization on Wednesday (May 31). The World Health Organization has celebrated “World No Tobacco Day” on Wednesday. On this day the WHO claimed that Sweden is very close to declaring itself “smoke-free”. Less than 5 percent of the people in this country smoke on a daily basis.
According to the Eurostat statistics agency, in 2019 only 6.4 percent of people over the age of 15 were daily smokers in Sweden. Which is very less in the European Union. In fact, the average number of daily smokers in the 27 countries of the European Union is 18.5 percent, which is much higher than in Sweden.
Smoking rates continue to decline
Figures from the Public Health Agency of Sweden show that since then the rate of smoking has continued to decline. If we look at last year’s figures, it had reached 5.6 per cent. Actually, awareness among the people is being told a big reason behind this.
Complications of lung cancer are less
According to Ulrika Arehed, Secretary General of the Swedish Cancer Society, there has been strictness regarding smoking in public places in the country for the past several years, the effect of which is also being seen. He also accepted that people in the country are very serious about their health, due to which they have distanced themselves from smoking. Its effect is also clearly visible. Now the rate of lung cancer here has reduced as compared to other countries of the world.
Smoking prohibited in public place
The government has imposed a special ban on smoking in public places in the country. Here smoking is banned at railway stations, bus stations, other crowded places, which people also follow.
Canada will also be strict on cigarettes
Tobacco is deadly, its smoke is harmful for children. Cigarette is the cause of leukemia. There is poison in every puff. Some such messages will be written in English and French on cigarettes sold in Canada Canada announced on Wednesday that health warnings will have to be printed on every cigarette. Canada has become the first country in the world to do so.
