Kingdom of Great Britain: With the oath of Rishi Sunak in Britain, for the first time a Hindu became the Prime Minister there. Now the coronation ceremony of King Charles-3 is going to happen there. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will attend that function as a chief guest. During this, Sunak will read some parts of the Christian scripture ‘Bible’. The reason behind this is that Britain (United Kingdom) is a Christian majority country.
Let us inform that majority of the population in Great Britain is of Christians and there Rishi Sunak is the first Prime Minister of Indian origin, who is a follower of Hinduism. As such, his reading of passages from the Bible at a Christian ceremony would reflect his multi-faith. In keeping with recent tradition there, Sunak will read excerpts from the Bible on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. In fact, the coronation of 76-year-old Maharaja Charles will take place on May 6 itself.
Sunak to reflect on multi-faith by reading the Bible
The Bible that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will read in Britain is called the ‘Biblical Book of Colossian’. The Office of the Archbishop of Canterbury has said that Sunak’s reading of a Christian book at King Charles III’s coronation ceremony will reflect multi-faith. Lambeth Palace, the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury, said members of other faiths would take an active part in a congregational prayer for the first time.
