China Landslide: A major incident of landslide has been witnessed in Sichuan province, located in the southwest of China, in which 19 people have died. According to local media, relief and rescue work is going on at the spot. On Saturday (03 June) morning, a part of the mountain collapsed at the forestry station in Jinkouhe near Leshan city. Where it has been raining continuously for weeks.
Chinese media outlet CCTV reported on Sunday (04 June) that 180 soldiers were deployed on the spot to help find people buried under the debris. The rescue operation went on till Sunday afternoon regarding the incident that took place on Saturday. According to the report, till 3 pm on Saturday, the bodies of 14 people had been recovered while five people were missing. Those were recovered on Sunday morning.
According to state broadcaster CCTV, all those killed were employees of the Jinyuan Mining Company. The area in which this landslide incident happened is already considered very unsafe. Even after the torrential rains in 2019, the incident of landslides was seen in this area.

At the beginning of the year, a landslide occurred in a coal mine in northern China, in which four people died. Along with this, a dozen people were injured. At the same time, in September last year there was flood after the rains. Meanwhile, 82 people had died after a strong earthquake in the mountainous areas of southwest China.

In the year 2008, an earthquake of 7.9 magnitude had caused havoc in this area coming in the earthquake zone. Then more than 87 thousand people were either killed or went missing. These included 5,335 school students.
