WTC Final 2023, India vs Australia: The World Test Championship (WTC) final match has now reached a very exciting stage. At the end of the fourth day’s play, the Indian team’s score was 164 runs at the loss of 3 wickets. Team India still needs 280 runs to win this match. At the end of the day’s play, Virat Kohli returned unbeaten pavilion after scoring 44 and Ajinkya Rahane 20 runs.
Australia lost 2 wickets in the first session, Indian bowlers did not give runs easily
The start of the fourth day was not good for the Australian team. The team soon lost its 5th wicket in the form of Maransh Labushen. Umesh Yadav sent Labushen to the pavilion after getting him caught out by Pujara on a personal score of 41. After this, Alex Carey, who came out to bat, along with Cameron Green, started advancing the score with a slow pace.
Ravindra Jadeja broke this partnership when he made Green his victim. The sixth blow to the Australian team was on the score of 167. Green was dismissed after scoring 25 runs in 95 balls in his innings. By the time of lunch, the Australian team had scored 201 runs in their second innings at the loss of 6 wickets.
Australia declared the innings, India lost the wicket of Shubman Gill
With the beginning of the second session, Alex Carey and Mitchell Starc started the process of scoring runs with speed, where Carey completed his half-century, while there was also a 50-run partnership for the 7th wicket between the two. Mitchell Starc, showing amazing with the bat, played a brilliant inning of 41 runs in 57 balls.
Captain Pat Cummins, who came out to bat after Stark’s dismissal, got out after scoring just 5 runs. With this, the Australian team declared its second innings at a score of 270 runs and gave India a huge target of 444 runs. In India’s bowling, Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets while Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav took 2-2 wickets. Only 1 wicket came in this innings in the account of Mohammad Siraj.
The Indian team got a chance to bat from tea time and captain Rohit Sharma along with Shubman Gill gave a positive start. Both together added 41 runs with speed. But just before tea, the Indian team lost the wicket of Gill, who returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 18 runs.
2 setbacks in the form of Rohit and Pujara, hopes rested on Kohli and Rahane
With the start of the last session of the fourth day, both captain Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara continued to bat in a positive manner. Due to which the speed of scoring runs of the Indian team was seen around 4 runs. Rohit along with Pujara also completed the half-century partnership for the second wicket soon. But meanwhile, Nathan Lyon gave a second blow to Team India in the form of Rohit.
Captain Rohit Sharma tried to play a sweep shot off Lyon’s ball but the ball hit straight on the pad and he had to return to the pavilion after being dismissed LBW. An innings of 43 runs was seen from Rohit’s bat. Team India lost its third wicket on the score of 92. Immediately after this, the team lost the third wicket in the form of Pujara at the score of 93. Pujara tried to play such a shot off Pat Cummins which no one had imagined. Pujara returned to the pavilion after scoring 27 runs.
From here everyone felt that the Australian team had completely captured the match. But the pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli worked to maintain the pace of runs to keep Team India in this match. Together, at the end of the fourth day’s play, the score reached 164 for the loss of 3 wickets. Rahane and Kohli have so far shared a 71-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Team India now needs 280 runs to win on the 5th day.
