Manipur CM Event Venue Set On Fire By Mob: At New Lamka in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, at around 9 pm on Thursday (April 27), an unruly mob ransacked and torched the venue prepared for Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s programme. According to the news agency PTI, the local police took immediate action to disperse the crowd but before that the venue was damaged by the burning of hundreds of chairs.

Police said an angry mob partially set ablaze the new open gym set up at PT Sports Complex in New Lamka. According to the police, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh is expected to come for its inauguration on Friday (April 29). Apart from the inauguration of the open gym, CM Biren Singh can also attend a program organized by a local at Sadbhavna Mandap.
Indigenous Tribe Leaders Forum had called for the bandh
According to reports, the mob attack took place at a time when the Indigenous Tribe Leaders Forum, a forum of tribal leaders, called for an entire Churachandpur bandh from 8 am to 4 pm. The forum claimed that the government showed no interest in addressing the problems of the people, despite repeated representations protesting the ongoing eviction drive to vacate the reserved forest areas of farmers and other tribal residents.
