Jailed Sukesh Chandrasekhar filed an application to buy his wife’s birthday cake, what did the court say?

Sukesh Chandrashekhar Wife Birthday: Sukesh Chandrasekhar, who was jailed in several cases of fraud, had applied in the court to buy his wife’s birthday cake, on which he got permission. A Delhi court allowed him to buy cakes from the jail’s bakery. The court said that he (Sukesh) ‘needs to be assured of being emotionally connected with his family members’.

The couple is lodged in Mandoli jail on charges of money laundering and cheating several people. The court directed the superintendent of Mandoli jail to hand over the cake to Chandrashekhar’s wife Leena Paulose on April 28.

What did the court say on Sukesh’s application?

Noting that Chandrashekhar’s request appears to be more suited to human feelings than any legal aspect, Special Judge Shailendra Malik said, “At any rate, the UTP (undertrial) should be allowed to live with his family.” There is a need to be emotionally connected with the members-relatives and to assure them of maintaining the relationship.

“Therefore, I do not see any objection, particularly when the concerned undertrial Sukesh Chandrasekhar wants to buy cake-pastry from the Mandoli jail bakery from his inmate funds and it is not that any Some goods are being given from the jail for the undertrial prisoner.

Special Public Prosecutor had opposed Sukesh’s application

Special Public Prosecutor Akhand Pratap Singh opposed the plea saying that the accused should have first placed his request before the jail authorities and if permission was not given then only he should have approached the court. At the same time, Chandrasekhar appeared before the court through video conference and said that he had requested the jail authorities regarding the cake. He said that the application had to be filed in the court when the request was not accepted by the authorities.
