Atal Pension Yojana: The record of subscribers of Atal Pension Yojana has crossed 5 crores. At the end of the financial year 2022-23 on March 31, the number of people enrolled in the Atal Pension Yojana has gone up to 5.20 crore. The Finance Ministry has given this information.
The data of the Ministry of Finance has been released, according to which a total of 1.19 crore new people have joined the Atal Pension Yojana in the financial year 2022-23. Whereas in 2021-22, 99 lakh subscribers were associated with the scheme. That is, there has been a jump of 20 percent in the number of people enrolling in one year. By March 31, 2023, the asset under management under the scheme has reached Rs 27,200 crore. While the scheme has given 8.69% annual return since the launch of the scheme.
According to the data, 9 banks out of public sector banks have achieved the target of opening 100 Atal Pension Yojana accounts in each branch. While Bank of India, SBI and Indian Bank have opened more accounts than the target. An increase is being seen in the number of people joining the Atal Pension Yojana, the pension scheme of the Modi government.
This ambitious scheme of the Modi government was launched in 2015. The objective of the scheme is to get pension in old age. People in the age group of 18 to 40 years can subscribe to Atal Pension Yojana. The applicant must have a bank account. In this scheme, there is a provision of minimum pension ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 after the age of 60 years. If both husband and wife are added, they can get a pension of Rs 10,000 under the scheme. If the subscriber of the scheme dies, then the husband or wife will continue to get pension for life. And if both of them die, then the entire amount of pension will be given to the nominee.
From 2035, the holders of Atal Pension Yojana will start getting pension. There is a provision to get pension to the subscriber of Atal Pension Yojana on attaining the age of 60 years. From October 1, 2022, a major change was made in the rules for joining new subscribers. Any citizen who has been paying income tax or pays income tax cannot subscribe to Atal Pension Yojana.
