The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan report noted that both the current and previous governments failed to respect the supremacy of parliament, while infighting between the legislature, executive and judiciary undermined institutional credibility. The report further states that political persecution continued throughout the year, using colonial-era laws as a weapon to quell sedition.
HRCP said in its report that during this period dozens of journalists and opposition leaders of the country were arrested and tortured in custody. The report of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan also mentions the killed mine workers. Last year in 2022, about 90 mine laborers have lost their lives.
