Pakistan Raj Kapoor House: A Pakistani court has rejected a petition seeking ownership rights over the mansion of famous Bollywood actor Raj Kapoor in the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which was declared a national heritage by the provincial government in 2016. Was.

A two-member bench of Peshawar High Court judges Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Abdul Shakoor on Thursday (April 27) dismissed the petitioner’s ownership case.

Nawaz Sharif had declared National Heritage
The petition was dismissed according to an order related to the acquisition process of the actor’s mansion in Peshawar’s famous Qissa Khwani Bazaar, which had already been declared a national heritage by the federal government headed by then prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The petitioner wants to demolish Kapoor Haveli and build a commercial plaza. The advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province told the court that the provincial archeology department had declared Kapur Haveli as a national heritage through a notification in 2016.

The father of the petitioner bought the mansion in 1969.
Judge Shakoor of the Peshawar Court asked the Archaeological Department whether they had any documents or proofs which suggested that the Raj Kapoor family once lived in the haveli. Advocate Sabahuddin Khattak, counsel for the petitioner Saeed Muhammad, told the court that the petitioner’s father had bought Kapoor Haveli during an auction in 1969, paid the cost and remained the owner till the acquisition process was initiated by the state government.

He further claimed that no department of the provincial government has any documents to prove that late Raj Kapoor and his family ever lived or owned this property.

Raj Kapoor’s ancestral house is known as Kapoor Haveli. It is situated in the famous Qissa Khwani Bazaar of Peshawar. It was built between 1918 and 1922 by Dewan Basheswarnath Kapoor, the great actor’s grandfather. Raj Kapoor and his uncle Trilok Kapoor were born here. Rishi Kapoor and his brother Randhir visited the site in the 1990s.
