What’s the difference?

If we talk about the difference between the two displays, then the LCD display has a single light source that illuminates the display while the AMOLED display has multiple LEDs that illuminate the screen. LCD IPS display is very pocket friendly in making and for this reason smartphones with this display come cheap. If the LCD display gets damaged then it is cheaper to replace it. Also, more white is seen in the LCD display. That is, the screen looks bright. Talking about AMOLED display, it is costlier than LCD because it consists of different individual LEDs which cost more to manufacture. For this reason, phones with such displays are expensive. Another special thing about AMOLED display is that because there are many LEDs in it, due to this they can be turned on-off. Think of it as if you play a video on your smartphone and there is a black part in the video, then during that time the black LED light in the AMOLED display will turn off and you will see the black clearly and the battery will also be saved. This is not possible in LCD because there is a single light source. This is the reason why the LCD display looks gray instead of black. The thickness of AMOLED display is less as compared to IPS LCD.

Apart from this, the light bleeds from the side in the IPS LCD display. This happens when the smartphone manufacturing company uses cheap LCD panels. One disadvantage with AMOLED displays is that if an individual LED bulb goes bad, the entire display may have to be replaced. In technical language it is called burning.

What is best for you?

If you do not have any problem with the budget, then you should buy a smartphone with AMOLED display because you get good color support in it. If your budget is less, then you should take phones with IPS LCD display. If you live more outdoor or watch videos etc. on the smartphone, then you should buy a smartphone with AMOLED panel because you will get good color contrast in it. But if you do gaming or are a gamer and you are getting a phone with IPS LCD with fast refresh rate, then instead of taking AMOLED panel, you should go for IPS LCD because you need fast refresh rate for gaming. Here the AMOLED display will not be beneficial for you. That is, its use in gaming is not that much.
