Youth 20 Consultation Meeting: Youth 20 consultation meeting is going to be held in Kashmir University before the G-20 Summit to be held in Jammu and Kashmir. The theme of this meeting to be held on May 11 will be climate change. Regarding this, Vice-Chancellor Nilofar Khan has said that the upcoming Youth 20 consultation meeting on climate change in the University of Kashmir is a historic occasion and has global importance.
Addressing a press conference, Professor Niloufer said that this is a great opportunity for the youth to play an active role in the fight against climate change. He said, “It is a historic occasion for the University of Kashmir to organize this event under India’s chairmanship of G20. The university considers it as an event of national and global importance and has implemented it.”

He said that all the faculty members, officers, research scholars and students have been actively involved in making this event a success. The Vice-Chancellor said that dignitaries from the Central Government, Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Administration, 17 international delegates, 4 international speakers, 12 national speakers and 26 national delegates would participate in the programme. Along with this, participants have also been invited from universities around the world.
The VC said, four panel discussions on important aspects of climate change would be organized during the technical deliberations. Highlighting the importance of the topic, the VC said, “We have deliberately chosen this topic considering its importance for the country and especially for our youth. Because the participation of youth in the dialogue and dialogue on climate is essential.”
The important reason for choosing this subject is that we live in the Himalayan region, which is prone to various natural calamities like landslides, floods and avalanches. The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir also falls in seismic zone-V and is therefore vulnerable to earthquakes.
