Pakistan: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has been arrested. Since then there has been a ruckus in Pakistan. PTI workers are protesting against the arrest of Imran on the streets. The video of the arrest of former PM is going viral on social media. His party leaders claim that Imran Khan was assaulted. He has been arrested by Pak Rangers. He was arrested from outside the Islamabad High Court.
Although this is not a new thing for Pakistan, even before this many former Prime Ministers had to go to jail as soon as they left the chair. Before Imran Khan, leaders like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have been arrested in Pakistan. All these leaders have been arrested in Pakistan after leaving the PM’s chair. Not only this, the former Prime Minister has also been sentenced to death in Pakistan.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto
Actually, the former Prime Minister who was sentenced to death in Pakistan. He was the Prime Minister, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, father of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto. Bhutto was overthrown on July 5, 1977 by the then Pakistan Army chief Zia-ul-Haq. He was the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 14 August 1973 to 5 July 1977.
On 4 April 1979, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the 9th Prime Minister of Pakistan, was hanged in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was accused of killing an opposition leader. After his appeal was rejected in the Supreme Court, he was hanged in just eight hours.
nawaz sharif
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif was arrested in the year 2018. He was arrested in a corruption case. In this case, he was sentenced to 10 years in jail. Nawaz Sharif left the country and went to Britain as soon as the matter of corruption came in the limelight. But he and his daughter were arrested as soon as they returned from Britain. Sharif became the Prime Minister of Pakistan 3 times, but could never complete his term. Presently Nawaz Sharif’s brother Shehbaz Sharif is the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi
Not even a year had passed since the arrest of Nawaz Sharif, then Pakistan Muslim League leader and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was arrested. He was also accused of corruption. A case was registered against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for alleged irregularities in awarding the LNG terminal contract to a firm. It was claimed that due to the contract passed by Abbasi, there would be a loss of Rs 47 billion to the exchequer.
