Cyclone Mocha: The cyclonic storm ‘Mocha’ has turned into a severe storm in the southeast adjacent to the Bay of Central Bengal. Also 9 km during Mocha. It is moving in the north direction at the rate of hourly. As soon as Cyclone Mocha knocked on the beaches of Bangladesh and Myanmar on Sunday 14 May. An alert was also issued to the personnel of the Disaster Management Force in West Bengal.
According to the information, the coastal areas of Purba Medinipur and South 24 Parganas districts are on high alert. A PTI report said that along with NDRF teams including divers, the Digha-Mandarmani coastal areas are also on alert. Also, the department has issued rules for people not to go near the sea.
Troops deployed to deal with disaster
The department has also deployed more than 100 personnel of the State Disaster Management Group at Bakkhali beach to keep an eye on the people. According to the information, cracks have appeared in the embankment of Sundarbans. Because of which they are being closed as a precaution.
Tourists are not allowed to go near the sea
Police and administration are using loudspeakers to prevent people from going near the sea. NDRF team member Vikas Sadhu said that we are not allowing tourists to go near the sea, where strong waves are rising. We are controlling the movement on the beach. We have been asked to be alert for the next few hours.
The storm is expected to hit the state on Monday (May 15), due to which arrangements have been made to evacuate residents of coastal areas in Purba Medinipur and South 24 Parganas districts. According to information, cyclone Mocha was 250 km south of Cox’s Bazar. .

Cyclone Mocha wreaks havoc in Sittwe
According to the report of The Daily Star, on Sunday (May 14), cyclone Mocha caused havoc in Sittwe, the coastal area of Myanmar. Parts of Sittwe, the capital of Myanmar’s Rakhine state, were inundated while winds gusted up to 130 kmph. According to Al Jazeera, the rescue team in Myanmar killed two people due to the landslide. Also, local media reported the death of a person after a tree fell in Myanmar.
