Pakistan Army Vs Imran Khan: The troubles of former Prime Minister Imran Khan are increasing in Pakistan. More than 100 cases have been registered against him there. At the same time, there is now a preparation to prosecute Imran under the Military Law and the Secrecy Act. If he continues to be convicted in this case, then he can be sentenced to death or life imprisonment.
You must have been shocked after reading the news of Imran being hanged. But, it has happened many times in the past of Pakistan, when tall politicians were hanged. Here we will tell you how even a popular leader like Imran can be hanged in Pakistan. In fact, these days Imran has become the thorn in the side of Pakistan’s Shahbaz government and Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir. Asim Munir was made ISI chief in October 2018, and was removed from the post just after 8 months. He remained the ISI chief with the shortest tenure. It was said that Bushra Bibi, wife of the then Prime Minister Imran Khan, was behind the removal of Asim. And, these days not only Imran but his wife Bushra Bibi is also facing troubles.
Imran is making comments against Pak army everyday, and it is well known that army is the real player of power in Pakistan, whoever opposes it either gets killed, or his political career gets destroyed.
The collusion between the Pakistani army and the government will prove costly!
On May 9, Imran Khan was arrested from outside the Islamabad High Court in a case. However, the Supreme Court judge released him. This is the first time that a former PM has been arrested in Pakistan and he had to be taken out of jail in just 48 hours due to heavy protests. This was seen as a challenge to the Pakistani army and government. After this, the Pakistan Army and the current government decided to prosecute him under the Military Act and the Official Secrets Act.
The biggest setback was the registration of a case under the Army Act.
The reason for registering a case under the Army Act was said to be damage to army properties by Imran supporters. Pakistan Army’s media wing ‘Inter Services Public Relations’ i.e. ISPR has said to take action against those involved in this incident under the Army Act. Under Section-59 of the Army Act in Pakistan, if a person is found guilty, he is sentenced to death. Pak army has used this law many times against human rights activists, journalists and veteran leaders. At the same time, under Section-3 of the Official Secrets Act, the guilty is punished with death or life imprisonment.
..then it will be impossible for Imran to escape
If Imran was presented in a military court in such a case, it would be difficult for him to survive. Because, in the last three years, the military court has sentenced 345 people to death, out of which 56 have been executed. At the same time, 296 people have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the military court.
The former PM who had a bad end
Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, who was the Prime Minister of Pakistan from September 1956 to October 1957, was also given a similar punishment. After that, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was the Prime Minister from 1973 to 1977, was arrested under Martial Law Regulation 12. Later on 4 April 1979, he was hanged.
