Indian Premier League 2023: Punjab Kings (PBKS) have kept themselves in the playoff race with a 31-run win in their last match against Delhi Capitals (DC). The most important role in Punjab’s victory was played by 22-year-old right-handed opening batsman Prabhsimran Singh. In the match against Delhi, Prabhasimran played a brilliant inning of 103 runs in 65 balls while handling the team’s innings from one end.
On the basis of this innings of Prabhsimran, the Punjab team managed to reach the score of 167 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the Delhi team was able to score only 138 runs. Now former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has praised Prabhsimran Singh for this great innings. In his statement on the Star Sports show, Irfan has described Prabhsimran as a future superstar player.
Irfan Pathan said that in the match against Delhi Capitals, Prabhsimran has played the role of a senior player for his team. One thing to keep in mind is that Prabhasimran is a young player and he has shots like everyone else. I think he will definitely become a big player in future.
Punjab will have to win the last two matches to stay in the playoff race
So far this season, Punjab Kings have played 12 matches and with 6 wins, the team is at 8th position in the points table with 12 points. Punjab have to play their next match against Delhi Capitals on 17th May and after that they will have their last league match of this season against Rajasthan Royals on 19th May.
If Punjab wins both of these, then they will be able to keep themselves in the playoff race. But to confirm the place, they will have to depend on the result of other matches as well.
