Indian stock market closed in the red mark despite a great opening


Stock Market Closing On 18th May 2023: In today’s trading session, the Indian stock market lost all its gains. Despite opening with a strong momentum in the morning, the market cannot sustain the momentum. The Indian stock market closed with a decline due to profit booking by investors. The BSE Sensex fell by 128 points to 61,431 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed by 47 points at 18,134 points. From the day’s high, the Sensex has seen a decline of more than 500 points, while the Nifty has seen a decline of 150 points.

In today’s trade, shares of Auto, IT, Pharma, FMCG, Metals, Real Estate, Media, Energy, Infra, Consumer Durables, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors closed down. Only banking sector stocks closed in the green. Mid-cap and small-cap index shares also closed down. Of the 30 Sensex stocks, 13 closed with gains and 17 with losses. While 13 stocks in Nifty’s 50 stocks have gained momentum while 37 stocks closed down.

In today’s trade, Bajaj Finance closed down by 1.22 per cent, Kotak Mahindra by 1.03 per cent, Bharti Airtel by 0.94 per cent, ICICI Bank by 0.94 per cent, HDFC Bank by 0.41 per cent and HDFC by 0.37 per cent. While SBI closed down by 2.11 per cent, ITC by 1.87 per cent, Titan Company by 1.62 per cent.

investors’ wealth decreased

In today’s trading session, investors’ wealth has decreased due to fall in the market. The market cap of companies listed on BSE has come down to Rs 275.85 lakh crore, which was Rs 277.26 lakh crore on Wednesday. Which is on Tuesday i.e. in today’s session, investors have suffered a loss of Rs 1.41 lakh crore.
