G Parameshwara on Karnataka CM: Congress has captured the power of Karnataka. The tussle over the CM’s chair in the state is over now. The Congress high command has decided to make Siddaramaiah the new CM of the state and only one i.e. DK Shivakumar as Deputy CM.
Congress leaders G Parameshwara and MB Patil are said to be angry with this decision of the party high command. G Parameshwara, who was the deputy CM in Siddaramaiah’s previous government, has also raised questions on this formula of the party. He said that the decision to make Siddaramaiah the CM and Shivakumar the Deputy CM has hurt the Dalit community.
Both the leaders are set to become ministers
G Parameshwara, who was the deputy CM in the previous Congress government in Karnataka, has expressed displeasure over the decision of the high command. Parameshwara said that there was a lot of demand for a Dalit CM in the state, but it did not happen. The sentiments of the Dalit community have been hurt, they have been hurt.
He further said that I too could run the government. If not CM then at least I should have been made Deputy CM. Please tell that G Parameshwara comes from Dalit community and MB Patil from Lingayat. Both these leaders have expressed their displeasure to the Congress high command over the decision of CM and Deputy CM. However, according to sources, both the leaders are set to become ministers.
Official announcement of CM and Deputy CM
KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala announced the names of Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for the post of CM and Deputy CM. Venugopal said that there will be only one deputy CM in the state.
Shivakumar will remain the state president of Karnataka till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Surjewala said that the credit for the victory of the Congress rests on the people of Karnataka. All the leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge worked hard, this is the victory of collective leadership. Both our leaders are capable of becoming CM. Can run both the states well.
Oath taking will be held in Bangalore
The swearing-in ceremony of Siddaramaiah as the new CM of Karnataka and DK Shivakumar as Deputy CM will take place on Saturday (May 20) at 12:30 pm at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru in the presence of the Congress leadership.
Significantly, in the elections held on May 10 for the 224-member assembly, the Congress won 135 seats. The ruling BJP and JDS led by former PM HD Deve Gowda got 66 and 19 seats respectively.
