Bengal News: TMC national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee reached the CBI office on Saturday (May 20) for questioning in the Kuntal manifesto case. Banerjee was summoned by the CBI, due to which she had to reach the CBI office. Meanwhile, Abhishek Banerjee said that he would approach the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court order allowing the ED and the CBI to interrogate him in the Kuntal Ghosh letter case.

CBI wants to interrogate Abhishek Banerjee in connection with the investigation of teacher recruitment scam. The summons was sent by the Deputy Superintendent of CBI to Abhishek’s residence at Harish Mukherjee. It was said in the summons that you are directed to appear before me on Saturday at 11.00 am.

Confirming the summons, Abhishek had tweeted, “Regardless of these things, I will keep trying to serve the people. Abhishek had challenged the CBI on Friday to arrest him if there was any evidence of corruption or misconduct against him.

Immediate hearing on the petition was refused
Abhishek Banerjee had said in a rally held in Bankura that I challenge the CBI that they have been investigating many cases in Bengal for the last several years. If they have any evidence of corruption against me, they should arrest me.

A bench of the Calcutta High Court on Friday refused urgent hearing on Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee’s plea challenging the single bench order. After which he talked about approaching the Supreme Court. The Single Bench had said in its decision in the case that there is no bar on the CBI taking action on the notice given to Abhishek.

Abhishek’s name had cropped up in a complaint lodged by Kuntal Ghosh, one of the accused in the scam. At the same time, Ghosh has alleged that central agencies are pressurizing him to name Abhishek in the recruitment scam.
