RBI 2000 Currency Note: It has been decided to withdraw the Rs 2000 note. RBI announced that Rs 2000 note will be taken out of circulation. The Reserve Bank of India has ordered banks not to issue 2000 notes. Although RBI has said that these notes will be considered valid till 30 September. 2000 rupee note will have to be deposited in banks by 30 September.
The Reserve Bank of India has said that Rs 2000 notes can be exchanged for currency of other denominations at 19 regional offices of RBI.
From when and how much can 2000 rupee notes be changed
The Reserve Bank of India has said in its circular that there is no restriction to change the 2000 rupee note. However, later detailed rules will be issued for this. These notes can be exchanged from May 23. Note of 2000 rupees, then the limit of 20 thousand rupees can be changed. This currency can be changed from 23 May 2023.
What to do if someone refuses to exchange notes?
If you have 2000 rupee notes and you want to exchange it, you can go to the bank and deposit it. Before 30 September 2023, if any shopkeeper, bank branch or any other bank note refuses to take 2000 rupees, then you can complain about it.
Where can I complain
If someone refuses to exchange the note, the customer can lodge a complaint by going to their respective bank. However, if the bank also does not respond within 30 days or the complainant is not satisfied with the bank’s reply, he can lodge his complaint on the RBI portal cms.rbi.org.in.
When were 2000 rupee notes issued
PM for the first time on 8 November 2016 Narendra Modi had announced demonetisation. In demonetisation, 500 and 1000 rupee notes were discontinued and in its place new notes of 500 and 2000 rupees were issued.
