Asian Cup 2023: There has been a dispute between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding the Asia Cup. Although this dispute is expected to end next week. According to a PTI report, an agreement can be reached between the BCCI and the PCB to organize the Asia Cup next week.
Actually, Pakistan has the right to host the Asia Cup to be held this year. But due to the dispute with Pakistan, BCCI has refused to send the team there. Hybrid model has also been introduced by PCB. According to this model, the rest of the teams will play their matches in Pakistan only while Team India’s matches can be held in Sri Lanka or UAE.
But Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have also not agreed to this model of PCB. Both these countries want that the Asia Cup should be held at a neutral venue only. In this connection, the final decision is expected to come next week.
Threats are being given by PCB
On behalf of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, it has been said, “We have received an invitation to watch the IPL playoff matches. After going there, there will be a discussion about the Asia Cup. Nothing has been decided yet. It is expected that a decision will be taken on hosting the Asia Cup next week.
Please tell that the decision on the Asia Cup can also have an impact on the World Cup to be held this year. The Pakistan Cricket Board is constantly threatening that if the right to host the Asia Cup is taken away from it, then it will boycott the World Cup. The World Cup is to be held in India in October-November only after the Asia Cup.
