Hardeep Singh Puri on Congress: There is a war of words between the Congress and the BJP regarding the inauguration of the new Parliament building. As per the schedule, on May 28 the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Will inaugurate the new building of Parliament, but before that there has been a demand from Congress leaders that this work should be done by President Draupadi Murmu.
After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge surrounded the central government on Monday (22) by demanding President Draupadi Murmu to inaugurate the new building of Parliament through a tweet thread. Congress President’s statement was supported by his party’s Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor, while Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri retaliated.

Union Minister for Housing, Urban Affairs, Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday (May 22) shared Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s tweet and said, “Congress has a habit of creating controversy where there is none.” does it. While the President is the head of the country, the Prime Minister is the head of the government and leads the Parliament on behalf of the government, whose policies are implemented in the form of law. The President is not a member of either House while the PM is.

What did Shashi Tharoor say?
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor shared Mallikarjun Kharge’s tweet and wrote, “Yes, Mallikarjun Kharge sir is right. Articles 60 and 111 of the Indian Constitution make it clear that the President is the head of the Parliament. It was quite strange that when the construction (of the new Parliament House) started, the Prime Minister did the ground breaking ceremony and worship but it was completely incomprehensible to him (PM) and not to inaugurate the building on behalf of the President. (and arguably unconstitutional).
What did Mallikarjun Kharge say?
The Congress President wrote in a tweet thread on Monday itself, “It seems that the Modi government ensured the election of the President of India from the Scheduled Castes and Tribal communities only for political reasons.” At the same time, former President Ram Nath Kovind was not invited to the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Parliament. President of India Draupadi Murmu is not being invited for the inauguration of the new Parliament House.
The Congress President further wrote in the tweet, “Parliament is the highest legislative body of the Republic of India and the President is the highest constitutional post.” She (the President) alone represents the government, the opposition and every citizen equally. She is the first citizen of India. The inauguration of the new Parliament House on his behalf will show the government’s commitment to democratic values and constitutional dignity. The Modi government repeatedly flouts constitutional decorum and the office of the President of India has been reduced to symbolism under the BJP-RSS government.
