SP of Bijapur, Anjaneya Varshneya told that even in the scorching summer season, continuous operation against the Naxalites is going on in the district. During this operation, Bijapur police also got success. Even on late Sunday night, the police had received information that Naxalites were planting IEDs on the way to Pusnar and Hiroli under Gangalur police station area, so that they could cause great harm to the jawans. Immediately after receiving information about this, a team of jawans in which CRPF Cobra Battalion personnel and a joint team of DRG police were dispatched to the spot. Meanwhile, an encounter took place between the Naxalites and the jawans who were hiding. This encounter lasted for half an hour. During this, 2 soldiers of Cobra Battalion were injured. Maoists managed to escape from the spot
Jawans of CRPF Cobra Battalion and joint team of DRG Police were successful in driving the Naxalites from the spot. The SP said that according to the information received from the jawans, three to four Naxalites were also shot in this encounter, but the Naxalites managed to escape from the spot. Even on Monday morning, the team of soldiers who came out from Pusnar camp on the spot is continuously searching at the spot.
