Sharad Pawar: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Monday said that the decision to demonetise the Rs 2,000 note was the act of a “moody person”. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 notes on May 19 and said that the existing notes can either be deposited in bank accounts or exchanged till September 30.

It is like the decision of a moody person – Sharad Pawar

Pawar told reporters in Pune, ‘It is like a moody person’s decision. I have received some complaints about the decision to demonetise Rs 2,000 notes. He said that after demonetisation, institutions like the Pune District Central Cooperative Bank suffered losses as several crores of rupees lying with them could not be exchanged. Pawar claimed that the same had happened with the Kolhapur District Central Cooperative Bank.

Modi government on target of opposition for banning 2000 note

The opposition is constantly attacking the Modi government on the decision to discontinue the Rs 2,000 note. Earlier, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had targeted the central government and said that when the Rs 2,000 note had to be banned then why was it brought. He said that the Modi government had made such a mistake before and is now making such a mistake again. He said that earlier the government had demonetized without giving time and now it has stopped the Rs 2,000 note. At the same time, Congress leader Rajeev Shukla had said that such decisions weaken the economy instead of strengthening it. On the other hand, NCP leader Jitendra Awhad said on this decision of the Modi government that the Lok Sabha elections have come near, so a ban has been brought on the note of 2 thousand rupees.
