Why RCB could not make it to the playoffs? Here are the 3 big reasons for not qualifying

Why RCB didn’t qualify in playoffs in IPL 2023: Indian Premier League has now reached its final stage. All 70 matches of the league stage have been played and now the playoff matches will start from May 23.

Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have qualified for the IPL 2023 playoffs. RCB missed out on reaching the top-4. Last night, on May 21, RCB could not qualify for the playoffs after losing against Gujarat. Here’s why last RCB missed out on qualifying for the playoffs.

1- Match finisher not bought in the auction

Royal Challengers Bangalore did not take lesson from IPL 2022 and did not buy any match finisher for number six or seven in IPL 2023 auction. After the defeat against Gujarat, captain Faf du Plessis admitted that this condition of the team happened due to the absence of explosive players at number six or seven in the team. In the last season, Dinesh Karthik had a great finish in many matches. This year also the team depended on him, but this year Karthik could not bat like last season.

2- Rajat Patidar got injured, reliable player not found at number three

RCB’s reliable number three batsman Rajat Patidar got injured in the beginning. Because of this, despite Faf and Virat scoring a lot of runs in the beginning, no player could bat at number three. During this, Mahipal Lomror, Anuj Rawat and Shahbaz Ahmed were tried on this sequence, but all proved to be flops. Then the RCB management decided to feed Glenn Maxwell at number three, which proved to be correct. But this made the middle order very weak. That means the team failed to find the right replacement for Rajat Patidar, which was a major reason for their failure.

3- Lack of experienced Indian spinners

RCB had released Yuzvendra Chahal before the IPL 2022 auction. Since then his spinners could not perform like other successful teams. The team had high hopes from Vanindu Hasaranga, but he did not look effective on Indian pitches. New Zealand’s spin all-rounder Michael Bracewell also could not do anything amazing. RCB clearly missed an experienced Indian spinner.
