After this decision of RBI, those who already have currency notes of Rs 2000 can deposit these notes in the bank account or can exchange it through notes of other denominations by going to the bank branch. RBI says that the general public will be able to do transactions through 2000 rupee note. Along with this, she will also be able to receive it as payment.

There will be no restrictions regarding exchange of Rs 2000 notes in banks. No form will have to be filled regarding this. Up to Rs 20000 i.e. 10 2000 rupee notes can be exchanged at banks or RBI centers. At the same time, Rs 2000 notes can also be deposited in the bank account and there is no limit for this. RBI has appealed to the common people to take time till 30 September 2023 to exchange the Rs 2000 note or deposit it in the bank.

Only Rs 2000 notes can be deposited in the post office. But for this it is very important to have KYC of the account holder. But notes cannot be exchanged at the post office.
