According to the record released by the Raipur Meteorological Department, a temperature of 46.8 degree Celsius has been recorded in Dhamtari district. Apart from this, the plains districts i.e. Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg divisions are experiencing maximum heat. On the other hand, the temperature in the districts of Surguja and Bastar division is lower than other places. Here the maximum temperature of the day is being recorded around 40 degrees.

Raipur Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heat wave. Meteorological scientist HP Chandra has told that a heat wave-like situation has developed in the central region of the state i.e. Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg divisions. It includes Mahasamund, Janjgir, Raigarh, Mungeli, Baloda Bazar, Balod, Rajnandgaon and Bilaspur districts. Surguja recorded 41.8 degrees Celsius, Raigarh 44.3, Janjgir Champa 44.1, Baloda Bazar 43.6, Korba 41.3, Bilaspur 43.4, Mungeli 43.5, Mahasamund 43.5, Raipur 41.3, Dhamtari recorded 46.8 degrees Celsius. According to the guidelines issued by the Raipur Meteorological Department to avoid the heat, people should consume ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, taurani, lemonade, buttermilk to keep themselves hydrated.
