Terrorists attack oil and gas company in Pakistan, six security personnel killed


Pakistan: Six security personnel were killed in a terrorist attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. A dozen terrorists stormed a Hungarian-owned oil and gas company on Tuesday night, killing six security personnel in the ensuing gunbattle.

According to police, around 50 fighters attacked the site owned by the Budapest-headquartered MOL group in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province around midnight. A police official told AFP that the attackers were armed with light and heavy weapons. They fired mortar shells, in which six security personnel posted at the main gate were killed.

According to the police official, four of the dead were from the Pakistan Paramilitary Police Support Force, while two Pakistani private security guards working for the firm were involved. He told that ‘the firing continued for more than an hour. Taking charge of the front, the police personnel forced the terrorists to flee.

Terrorists came from North Waziristan

District Police Officer Noor Wali Khan confirmed the attack and the death toll. He said the attackers came from the nearby North Waziristan district, which borders Afghanistan and has historically been a hotbed of militancy. Let us tell you that MOL Group (MOL) has operated a subsidiary of Pakistan since 1999 and according to their website has given employment to 400 people in the country. A spokesman for the Hungarian embassy in Islamabad said, “This incident is very sad, we are following all the updates.”

The school was targeted on Monday

Earlier, referring to Monday’s incident, the officials said that two schools in the province were attacked by terrorists on Monday night, although no one was present in the school then, due to which no untoward incident took place.
