NDTV in collaboration with Lokniti-CSDS has conducted a survey regarding the Lok Sabha elections, in which public opinion has been revealed. This survey has come at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed his nine years in power at the Center this month. The survey was conducted in 19 states between May 10-19, just after the Karnataka elections.
Good news for BJP
After losing in Karnataka, the good news for BJP in this survey is that the popularity of Prime Minister Modi still remains strong. Along with this, the vote share of the party has also remained high. 43 percent of the people involved in the survey say that the BJP-led NDA government should come to power for the third time as well.
At the same time, 38 percent people have expressed disagreement with it. There were about 40 percent people who said that if elections were held today, they would vote for BJP. 29 percent of the people involved in the survey said that they would vote for the Congress.
Vote share of both BJP and Congress increased
The vote share of BJP has increased as compared to the last Lok Sabha elections. In 2019, BJP got 37 percent votes, while in the latest survey of 2023, BJP has been estimated to get 39 percent votes. Along with this, the vote percentage of Congress has also increased. The vote share of Congress has increased from 19 percent in 2019 to 29 percent in 2023.
Modi is the top choice for the post of PM
Narendra Modi still remains the top choice of the public for the post of Prime Minister. 43 percent people say that if elections were held today Narendra Modi PM will be his first choice for the post. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on the second number. 29 percent people considered him the most suitable candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
After these two, the rest of the leaders are seen far away in the race for the post of PM. TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is at the 5th position with 4 percent votes. 11 percent of the people involved in the survey have placed Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal at number three in the race for the post of PM.
