What did the NCP spokesperson say?
NCP’s chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase said, BJP is trying to weaken the country’s top constitutional post by not inviting the President for the inauguration of the new Parliament building. This is an insult to the democratic traditions of the country. BJP is clearly trying to enhance Modi’s image ahead of 2024 elections. Accordingly, all NCP MPs have expressed their displeasure and have decided to stay away from the inauguration ceremony of the Parliament House.

Shiv Sena’s (Uddhav faction) chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut reiterated that his party will also not participate in Sunday’s programme. Raut announced that all opposition parties have decided to boycott the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28 and we will also follow it. Taapsee said that the President is the guardian of the fundamental rights of the citizens and is also the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces. That’s why most of the opposition feel that the President new parliament building should be inaugurated.
