Yasin Malik should be hanged, NIA reaches Delhi High Court with this demand


National Investigation Agency: Investigation agency NIA has sought death penalty for Kashmiri separatist leader and JKLF chief Yasin Malik in the Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court will hear the NIA’s petition on Monday (May 29). Yasin Malik is currently serving a life sentence in a terror funding case.

NIA demanded death penalty for Yasin Malik before the trial court. However, the Court refused, saying that the death penalty should be imposed only in exceptional cases where the crime by its very nature affects the collective conscience of the society.

Listed for hearing on May 29

NIA’s petition has been listed for hearing on May 29 before a bench of Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Talwant Singh. Let us tell you that on May 24, 2022, a lower court had sentenced Malik, the chief of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), to life imprisonment after holding him guilty of several offenses under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code.
