NITI Aayog Meeting: The eighth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog is underway at the new Convention Center in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. PM Narendra Modi is presiding over this meeting. Among them are Mamta Banerjee of West Bengal, Nitish Kumar of Bihar, K Chandrasekhar Rao of Telangana, MK Stalin of Tamil Nadu, Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan and Pinarayi Vijayan of Kerala. At the same time, Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi and Bhagwant Mann of Punjab have directly boycotted.
1. Arvind Kejriwal
PM Narendra Modi In a letter to CM Kejriwal, he said he was ‘boycotting’ the meeting in protest against the ‘undemocratic and unconstitutional’ ordinance of May 19, which restored control of services in the national capital to the Center under the lieutenant governor. Effectively quashed the order of the Supreme Court. Which handed over the control of services to the elected government except police, public order and land.
2. Mamta Banerjee
There is no representative of West Bengal in the NITI Aayog meeting. The TMC government’s request to send the state’s finance minister and chief secretary was turned down by the Centre, which insisted that Mamata Banerjee could attend the event. However, Mamta Banerjee has already decided not to attend the eighth Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. At the same time, the state’s Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said that Banerjee is busy in some other work, without giving any reason for not attending the meeting.
3. Nitish Kumar
Senior members of the Bihar cabinet said that Nitish Kumar expressed his inability to attend due to prior commitments. He said that if someone else can replace him then he will have to hear back from the central government. Nitish said what was the need for a new parliament? The earlier building was a historical one. I have repeatedly said that the people in power will change the history of this country.
