Northeast will get its first Vande Bharat Express on May 29, PM Modi will flag off


Vande Bharat Express: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Northeast’s first Vande Bharat Express on Monday (May 29). In this way, Assam will get the first ‘Vande Bharat Express’ train on Monday. On this occasion, the PM will dedicate the newly electrified sections to the nation and also inaugurate the newly constructed DEMU and MEMU sheds.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Assam’s first Vande Bharat Express through video conference on May 29 at 12 noon.”

The PMO said that the state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Express will provide a means to travel with speed and comfort to the people of the region and will also give a boost to tourism in the region. This train connecting Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri will help save about one hour in travel time as compared to the fastest train at present.

Will travel in 5 hours 30 minutes
Vande Bharat Express will cover the journey in 5 hours 30 minutes, while the current fastest train takes 6 hours 30 minutes to cover the same journey. The Prime Minister will also dedicate to the nation the newly electrified sections of the 182 kilometer long route. This will help in providing pollution free transport along with reducing the travel time.

The PMO said it would also open doors for electric trains to enter Meghalaya. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the newly constructed DEMU/MEMU shed at Lumding in Assam.

Earlier, the hill state of Uttarakhand has got the gift of Vande Bharat Express train. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Flagged off this train from New Delhi Railway Station. This is the sixth Vande Bharat Express train for Delhi.
