Rajasthan News: Due to the closure of Jodhpur city canal, cases of water shortage are coming to the fore in many areas. On Sunday (May 28), around 70-80 women from Khokharia village, border area of Jodhpur city, reached around 11 am to block the Jodhpur-Jaipur highway. Jammed the highway by throwing stones on the road. An attempt was made to wake up the administration by beating drums and plates for the demand of water.
The road was jammed for one and a half hours. The women sitting on the road raised slogans of the district administration, hi, water is our right. During this, due to the jam, many drivers also got entangled. As soon as the information about the highway jam was received, the team of Banad police station reached the spot and started explaining to the women present on the spot, but the women refused to leave the highway.
Fierce altercation with women policemen
The women got into a heated argument with the policemen for removing them from the road. After that, the agitating women got entangled with a policeman. They started abusing and started fighting. During the rescue by the female policeman in civil uniform, there was a clash. A woman standing there made a video of the fight between the police and the women. Women said that how can male policemen shower lathis on women demanding water.
The women protesting by blocking the road said that they have been struggling with the water problem for a long time. From the district collector to the officials of the water supply department have appealed regarding the water problem. Every time we get assurance. No permanent solution is made. The women of the area say that due to no alternative arrangement, the anger of the women increased and the women came on the road.

Jodhpur Police Commissionerate East’s Banad Police Station Officer Sitaram Khoja told that around 70 to 80 women and men together blocked the Jaipur Jodhpur main road near Khokharia gate at 11:00 am today. On the persuasion of the police, some women and men left the road. But some women were getting very excited and were provoking others. Some people were also doing bullying. Jodhpur was not allowing the Jaipur National Highway to be operational. Looking at the situation, women were also included in the police staff. After removing the women, the road was opened, during which two women and two men were arrested.
problems due to canal closure
Significantly, water reaches Jodhpur from Punjab through the Indira Gandhi Canal. Canal closure of 65 days is going to be completed on 30th May, water will be released on 30th May, water is expected to reach Jodhpur by 7th to 8th June. Due to canal closure, water cuts are continuing in many districts and many towns. Along with this, an appeal has also been issued by the district administration not to waste water unnecessarily.
