Madhya Pradesh Election 2023: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday (May 29) claimed that his party will win 150 seats in the state regarding the assembly elections to be held in Madhya Pradesh in November-December this year. Rahul’s statement of 150 seats was taunted by the BJP. Statements came from Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya. What is the whole incident and who said what, let us understand in 5 points.
1. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge held a meeting with senior leaders of the party’s state unit in Delhi on Monday (May 29) to prepare for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections to be held later this year. Rahul Gandhi and party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal attended the meeting. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, state in-charge of the party Jayprakash Agarwal and many other senior leaders attended the meeting. The organization and election preparations were discussed in the meeting.
2. Rahul Gandhi said that his party is going to repeat the performance of Karnataka in Madhya Pradesh assembly elections also and it will get 150 seats there. After the meeting, he said, “We had a long discussion. Our internal assessment is that we are going to get 150 seats in Madhya Pradesh. Karnataka has got 136 seats. What we have done in Karnataka, we are going to repeat in Madhya Pradesh. .”
3. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a jibe at Congress’ statement of winning 150 seats. He said, “Galib ye khayal achcha hai, khayali pulav pakate hai.” With this, CM Chouhan claimed that the ruling BJP will win more than 200 seats in the 230-member House of MP. He said that the BJP has also given the slogan ‘Abki Baar, 200 Paar’.
4. Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi’s statement of 150 seats, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “The difficulty of the Congress is that the meeting is in Delhi, the statement is in Delhi and the state of Madhya Pradesh, this is the crisis in the Congress.” The people of Madhya Pradesh are pleading that Delhi is very far away. In the Bharatiya Janata Party, each and every worker, each and every person, we are working with dedicated spirit for the development of the people, progress of the people by being firm on the ground. There is full confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party government will be established again in Madhya Pradesh on the basis of absolute majority in the coming elections.
5. BJP’s National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said, “The Congress had promised the farmers of Madhya Pradesh last time that we will waive the farmers’ loan in seven days. Kamal Nath ji’s government was in power for 15 months, the loan was not waived off, that’s why no one will believe the words of Rahul Gandhi ji. If the Congress gets 50 seats, I will consider it a huge victory for the Congress.
