All MLAs did not vote in UP MLC by-election, MLAs of these parties also remained missing


UP MLC By-Elections 2023: The ruling BJP (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh on Monday won the by-elections for two seats in the Legislative Council. Both the BJP candidates defeated the candidates of the rival Samajwadi Party. However, seven MLAs did not vote in this election.

Congress MLAs did not vote in this election. While the only MLA of BSP could not come to Lucknow to exercise his franchise. In Uttar Pradesh’s 403-member assembly, the ruling BJP has 255 MLAs, its ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) has 13 MLAs. The Nishad Party, another ally of the BJP, has six MLAs.

In fact, 396 MLAs voted on Monday for the two vacant seats in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, for which both the ruling BJP and the Samajwadi Party had fielded their candidates. According to Uttar Pradesh Assembly sources, seven MLAs, including two from the Congress, did not vote in the by-election.

On Monday, 396 MLAs of the state assembly voted in the by-elections held on Monday for the two vacant seats of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. Assembly sources said, “396 MLAs voted in the by-election held on Monday. Among the seven MLAs who did not vote, three jailed MLAs include Abbas Ansari (Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party), Irfan Solanki (SP) and Ramakant Yadav (SP).

“Apart from this, two Congress MLAs, one BSP MLA and one SP MLA (Manoj Paras) did not vote,” he said. Congress’ Uttar Pradesh unit chief Brijlal Khabri said, “MLC elections by the party It was decided not to vote in favor of any candidate, so both the MLAs of the party did not vote.

The Congress has two MLAs, Aradhana Mishra and Virendra Chowdhary. Uma Shankar Singh, the lone BSP MLA who did not vote, said, “I could not reach the polling booth to cast my vote.”

In Uttar Pradesh’s 403-member assembly, the ruling BJP has 255 MLAs, its ally Apna Dal (Sonelal) has 13 MLAs. The Nishad Party, another ally of the BJP, has six MLAs. SP has 109 MLAs, while its ally RLD has nine MLAs. Subhaspa has six MLAs, Congress and Jansatta Dal (Democratic) have two MLAs each and BSP has one member in the assembly.
