CAB Advised Narendra Modi Stadium: The final match of IPL 2023 was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Due to rain, the match was held on the next day i.e. Reserve Day (May 29). However, even on this day the rain interrupted the match and in the end the overs of the match were reduced under the Duckworth-Lewis rule. Meanwhile, Snehasish Ganguly, president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and brother of Sourav Ganguly, Narendra Modi The formula to improve the stadium has been told.
Snehasish Ganguly said that Gujarat Cricket Association should also use full covers on the ground like Eden Gardens. Talking about the IPL final, the CAB president said, “If the side wickets were not wet, the match would not have been delayed. This is a new stadium and I have full hope that it will get better with time. If he had covered the entire ground, there would have been no problem.”
Full covers expected to be used before ODI World Cup 2023
The Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata is the only stadium with full covers. Plastic covers were used at Eden Gardens during IPL 2008. After this, when Sourav Ganguly became the President of the Bengal Cricket Association, he had ordered full covers of England and since then no match was washed out due to rain on this ground. The match between India and Pakistan in the 2016 T20 World Cup was rained out, but the match started after just two overs were cut.
Snehasish Ganguly further said, “It is a matter of learning and Gujarat will start using full covers before ODI World Cup 2023. Gujarat has sandy soil grounds and they can easily deal with this problem. Yes, if there is no sand on the side wicket, then you have to bowl full covers. This is not a big deal. You will only need 40-50 more people for this.
