India vs Australia WTC Final 2023: The final match of the World Test Championship (WTC) will be played between Australia and India from June 7 at The Oval ground in London. For this, both the teams have been announced long back. Looking at the conditions in England, Shardul Thakur has been included in the Indian team as a fast bowler all-rounder. Meanwhile, former Kangaroo captain Ricky Ponting has termed the non-inclusion of Hardik Pandya as a big mistake for the Indian team.
When Hardik Pandya was injured in the year 2018, since then he has not played a single match in Test cricket. Keeping his fitness in mind, Hardik has now decided to return to the Test format. However, according to Ricky Ponting, Hardik Pandya should have been included in the Indian team for the WTC final. Let us tell you that in the 16th season of IPL, Hardik took 3 wickets with the ball along with scoring 346 runs with the bat.
Ricky Ponting said in a statement in the ICC review that I think how important a player like Hardik Pandya could have been for the Indian team in this only Test match for India. I know he doesn’t want to return to Test cricket keeping his fitness in mind. But considering the importance of this match, he could have made a comeback.
Hardik could prove to be X factor for the team
Ponting further said in his statement that keeping in mind the conditions in England, Hardik Pandya could prove to be the X factor for the Indian team. He should have been selected in the team for just this one match and then see what he could contribute for the team with bat and ball.
