Earthquake In New Zealand: An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 was felt on Wednesday (May 31) near the Auckland Islands located on the South Coast of New Zealand. This information has been given by the US Geological Survey. According to New Zealand’s Geonet monitoring agency, the epicenter of the earthquake was 33 km (21 mi) below the Earth’s surface. However, no immediate tsunami warning has been issued and there are no reports of any damage.
An official of the city council of Invercargill, the nearest major town near the epicenter, said no infrastructure damage was reported after the quake was felt here.
